Thailand, A Visual Story.

May 29, 2017,

Today is the day, that I have been impatiently waiting for. I’m going to Thailand for a whole month!

After saying bye to our beloved family members, we boarded our plane. We flew with KLM on the way to Thailand, and had our fair share of wine.

What I’m Packing For a Month Long Backpacking Trip to Thailand (valid for most countries in South East Asia)

Before going on my trip I had several questions on what items to bring. There are some pretty good guides out there, but many of them were sponsored guides and I doubted their credibility. Others were just so complicated. Below I wrote a simple guide on what to pack for your backpacking trip to South East Asia. Or any country that does not involve cold weathers.

Choosing the Right Backpack for Your Next Backpacking Travel

Choosing a backpack can be really tricky, especially if it’s your first time travelling. Most guides are usually endorsed and lack a lot of information which leaves you more confused and indecisive than you were originally. In this guide, I want to help you decide which pack you should get based on budget and purpose.

I chose the Osprey Farpoint 55. Here’s why.

A Valuable Lesson I Learned from an Old Man

Thursday May 18, 2017.

It’s a quiet day at work (mainly because the weather is beautiful for the first time in weeks). I’m sitting behind the counter reading my book and as I look up I see this funny looking old man staring me down.

“Can you make me a sandwich? All dressed.”

I get up to make his sandwich and while doing so I attempt to converse with him. He asks me what customers usually ask me: how old are you? what do you study? how do you like university? And I fed his curiosity with my basic replies.

Then he asked:

“But do you truly enjoy what you’re doing? Is that what you want to do?”

The Complex We All Suffer From

The Fear of Ones Own Greatness

Also known as the Jonah Complex (or syndrome). It’s defined as the fear of success which prevents self-actualization, or the realization of one’s potential. It is the fear of one’s own greatness, the evasion of one’s destiny, or the avoidance of exercising one’s talents.

I only heard about it for the first time when reading The Denial of Death by Ernest Becker however it’s an idea that was presented by Abraham Maslow, a famous american psychologist that is known for creating Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.
